About the Event

Tech Tex Asia - "Capitalising India's Growth & Collaborative Transformation As A Global Leader In Advanced Textiles"

The Post-World War II era marked a transformative period in the history and evolution of advanced textiles, driven by technological advancements, industrial innovations, and changing societal needs. The rapid development of synthetic fibres such as nylon, polyester, and aramid revolutionized the usage of textiles amongst diverse industries. These synthetic fibres offered superior strength, durability, and performance characteristics, fuelling innovation in various sectors including automotive, aerospace, healthcare, protective apparel etc. The introduction of advanced weaving, knitting, and nonwoven technologies further expanded the capabilities of these highly advanced textiles, enabling the production of complex and functional materials tailored to specific applications.

.Industries such as automotive and aerospace embraced advanced textiles for lightweight components, interior furnishings, and structural reinforcements, driving demand for advanced composite materials and engineered fabrics. In healthcare, medical textiles emerged as a critical component of modern healthcare systems, with applications ranging from surgical gowns and wound dressings to implantable devices and drug delivery systems. Additionally, the demand for protective textiles surged in response to growing concerns about workplace safety, environmental hazards, and military conflicts, leading to innovations in flame-retardant fabrics, ballistic materials, and chemical-resistant garments.

In the United States, the development of advanced textiles can be traced back to the Industrial revolution, where innovations in machinery and manufacturing processes paved the way for the production of durable fabrics used in transportation, agriculture, and military applications. In Europe, countries like Germany have been at the forefront of advanced textiles, leveraging their engineering expertise to develop advanced materials for automotive, aerospace, and construction industries. Japan’s emphasis on precision engineering and innovation has propelled its advanced textiles sector, particularly in areas like automotive textiles and high-performance fibres. China and Taiwan have emerged as major players, capitalizing on their manufacturing capabilities and investments in research and development.

The global advanced textiles market is expected to reach USD274 Bn by 2027 growing at CAGR of 5.1% backed by increasing global demand for advanced textiles across industry and expanding base with newer applications & research. Indian advanced textile market is expected to reach USD24 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 7.6%which is among thefastest growth rate in the Asia-Pacific region.

India has a diverse textile industry, skilled workforce, abundant raw material resources and a growing market demand in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure. Additionally, the country has a strong entrepreneurial culture and a growing emphasis on innovation and research through collaborating with several world class institutions. The advanced textile market is expected to witness considerable growth in coming years in India, owing to numerous factors such as developing the application sectors, rising awareness, government initiatives like NTTM. PLI & MITRA, standardizations & technology upgradation amongst others These initiatives not only enhance product functionalities but also address pressing challenges such as sustainability, durability, and affordability, positioning India as a hub for cutting-edge advanced textile manufacturing. Indian manufacturers are increasingly adopting eco-friendly fibres, recycled materials, and sustainable manufacturing practices to reduce their environmental footprint and meet evolving market demands.

However, as India embarks on its journey towards becoming a global leader in Advanced textiles, key challenges such as infrastructure bottlenecks, skill shortages, access to affordable capital, regulatory complexities etc must be addressed through concerted efforts from all stakeholders. The proposed 2-day deliberations delve into the multifaceted dimensions of India’s growth trajectory in these sectors, exploring the nation’s strategic positioning, global industry dynamics, technological advancements, prospects and much more.
