Charles Wood is Managing Director of W. Ball & Son Ltd (Baltex), a family business founded in 1831. He joined in 1990 after completing technical training at Karl Mayer in Germany, becoming Managing Director in 1999. With over three decades in technical textiles, Charles has led Baltex to three Queen’s Awards for International Trade. He also serves as Chairman of the Technical Textiles Special Interest Group at the Textile Institute and, from 2025, as its World President. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, he continues to champion innovation in sustainable and technical textiles.
