Dr. A. Shanmugavasan is a leading Textile Technocrat and one of India’s Top specialists in the field of “Technical Textiles”. ‘GOLD’ medal in M. Tech from IIT Delhi and eminence in Medical Textiles with a Doctorate in Medical Textiles for research he has a trail blazing academics. He is a FELLOW Member of the Institution of Engineers India and a PATRON member of the Indian Textile Association.
Career
Starting his career with Dunlop, where the highlight contribution was in development of aviation fabric for A320 aircrafts, just introduced into India. Later he moved on to SRF-Industrial Synthetics where he played significant role for SRF to win the prestigious DEMING APPLICATION PRIZE.

He joined as Managing Director at KOB Medical Textiles Pvt. Ltd, Coimbatore at age of 35.
KOB Medical Textiles is a wholly owned subsidiary of KOB GmbH, Germany under the Hartmann group and manufacturers Elastic Bandages under medical textiles category.
KOB India under his Leadership has grown from a small startup to a World Class facility for Bandages in the globe with the State-of-the-Art Manufacturing facility and its Global Best Practices. KOB India is one of the single largest facilities for bandages globally and exports products to several advanced nations from Coimbatore. KOB India is a classic example of “Make in India” and a plant of Enterprise. KOB India has brought High Class Bandages for Indian public at affordable cost prices.

Honorary Representative of the Indo German Chamber of Commerce for Coimbatore Region and brought German Ambassador to Cbe for the first time in 2004.
Past chairman of GIRT German Indian Round Table, Coimbatore worked for easing Schengen visa process.
Works with Ministry of Textiles & Trade organization like CII, ITTA, SIMA and SITRA and has held honorary positions.
As a return to the society, he is sponsoring scholarships on merit cum means basis under the foundation called “SUKAVAS” and so far, 50+ engineering students have benefitted.
